Philomena de Lima, University of the Highlands and Islands, Centre for Remote and Rural Studies

My research focuses on the international migration of households and individuals in rural areas, mostly within the Minority World. Within this context, I have a number of areas of interests including: exploring the ways in which notions of rural places shape notions of belonging /not belonging and identity; understanding the lived experiences of migrant households in translocal/transnational contexts and the role of home-making activities within this context; and understanding the multi-dimensional aspects of identity (intersectional identities) in different situational contexts.
