Ten Years of Poverty: What Have We Learned since 2009 and What Should We Do 2010-2020?

The Brooks World Poverty Institute (BWPI), University of Manchester

This event will bring together leading poverty researchers and actors for poverty reduction to:  

  • review the ‘state of the art' in poverty reduction;
  • showcase CPRC's key research findings on chronic poverty;
  • set the research and policy agenda on poverty research for the next 10 years (2010-2020).

The conference will take place just two weeks before the UN General Assembly convenes to review progress towards achieving the MDGs.

Among the keynote speakers are:

  • Prof Angus Deaton (Princeton University)
  • Prof Ravi Kanbur (Cornell University)
  • Prof Joseph Stiglitz (Columbia University and University of Manchester)
  • Prof Michael Woolcock (The World Bank and University of Manchester)
